I tried to leave a comment on your site, Lori Anne. Hopefully it’s just being moderated. Anyway, Misty is beautiful – and quite photogenic.

Great ideas! I definitely need to share photos of my studio mascot Misty more often. http://laboocks.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-joys-of-studio-cat.html

The picture here, on my about/home page: http://elainelutherart.com was taken by a professional photographer (Hannah Fehrman) and having that terrific photo ready to go was really helpful in getting publicity. It was used twice last year, once in my local paper and once on JCKonline! For JCKonline,
I gave the writer a choice of photos and she particularly wanted that one. That really showed me the importance of having photos that are more than just a headshot.
Hannah, the photographer, really captured the messy, busy studio. Had I been taking the picture, I probably would have tried to crop that out!

Great post, Alyson. I’ve noticed that people respond well to photos of works in progress, but there are some great ideas in here that are a little more creative!
(Unfortunately, no photos to share…just yet!)

Thank you for the list. What fun. My cat George loves to be in the studio with me and one day he decided to say “break time” I happened to have my camera handy, so I took some photographs and posted them to facebook. I was surprised how many people liked seeing the pictures.

Love this post- I have an “Order to Disorder: studio clutter” photo album going on my Facebook page. The first photo show the studio in its pristine state before my summer work session started….and you can guess the rest.

Great list Alyson – thank you! I’ve got a ton of studio and work in progress shots – it’s time to share! My fans love the informal shots that include the ‘girls’.
Cheers from Yes and Yay HQ

I just gathered up all of the photos of my studio; giving classes, working on projects, etc. Also, the obligatory pet photo!
I need to do many more, but this is my “debut” of these shots on Flickr.
